Kunzite is the pink variety of Spodumene discovered in 1902, and was named after the Tiffany & Co mineralogist George Kunz.

The pink in the gem comes from the presence of Manganese in the crystal and is found in a variety of lilac to deep shades of pink.

Kunzite has been known as the Woman's Stone as it is said to helpmothers care for their children as well as aid sleep for restless children.
